Nana and Grandpa Bill

Last week Nana and Grandpa Bill rolled into town for a few days before heading up to Kentucky. They are avid RVers so they frequently stop in on their way to their next adventure. Must be nice to be retired and be able to see the country. ; )
Since Nana is a great seamstress. I was so blessed to get some pointers from her while she was here. There were a few things I had been waiting to learn. The first one was how to put in a zipper. After seeing it done, it does not seem as intimidating. I guarantee that when I go to put one in by myself I will probably be singing a different tune. Here are some projects we did while she was here.

I have been dying to make this dress since I got this fabric when Amy and I went to Sir Fabrics. Since it had a zipper in the pattern I figured I would save myself some stress and wait on Mama Gwen to show me how. Well that was a really good plan because I do believe the devil made the pattern for that dress! It took us over 10 hours and that is not even including the monogramming. So needless to say that pattern will be going in my next garage sale! I am very happy with how it turned out. It is just as I pictured! I can't wait for Hannah to wear it.

While Mama Gwen and Bill were here, I took them to Sir Fabrics. I needed to return some fabric and Mama Gwen loves to go when she comes up here. We didn't really find anything this time. I got some fabric for the curtains in the kitchen and that was about it. Since Poole Knob Park was not open yet, Mama Gwen and Bill stayed at Seven Points campground near Hermitage. As they were on there way over Friday, they ran into Wal-mart to pick up a few things and of course Mama Gwen ran by the fabric dept. Thank you Jesus she did, because all of there fabric was 1/2 off! So as I am having lunch with my friend Val, my phone rings. It was Mama Gwen letting me know about the fabric at Wal-mart. So as I am screaming with excitement my friend and her little girl Saralyn look at me like I am a crazy lady. I think I might have actually scared Saralyn. I was trying to rack my brain to think what cute fabric Wal-mart had. So poor Mama Gwen is running from aisle to aisle searching for cute 1/2 price fabric. Later that day my huge bag of fabric arrives. It was like Christmas! She got me the most adorable prints for Hannah. Which I am sure you will be seeing in the near future. Thank you Mama Gwen for all of the wonderful fabric!
Oh sorry I got side tracked. You get me started on a sale and there I go. Getting back to my point, this adorable ladybug dress is fabric that she got from Wal-mart! I just love the way she did the straps. Very cute! Oh and it just so happend that I got Hannah a hat for $2 at Unclaimed Baggage that matches this dress perfectly!

When Amy and I were at Sir Fabric's I also found this gorgeous fabric that matches my comforter set perfectly. So while Gwen was here we made these adorable valances.
They turned out just perfect!
Thank you Mama Gwen for all of your help. I am so glad that you guys were able to come for a visit. I wish you could have stayed longer. Hopefully we will be able to come to Kentucky and camp with you soon!
